The Morgan County Youth Football Board met on Sunday, June 29th, 2008 and voted to reinstate the April 30th birth date cut-off since it was affecting some communities’ abilities to field teams in certain age groups.
In addition to reinstating the April 30th cut-off date, the board also voted on the following items that will be in effect for the 2008 season:
- 10 second punt rule
- 10 seconds will be run off the clock for each punt instead of running the clock while the yardage is stepped off.
- 11&12 weight limit dropped to 125 lbs. All other weight limits for the other age groups will remain at last season’s limits.
- One time weigh in before the beginning of the season
- Weigh-in will be on August 16th, 2008 at North Park in Priceville. Times for age groups will be determined later.
- Coaches can challenge a ball carrier to reweigh before the playoffs begin.
- A ball carrier that is challenged must reweigh at a time and place to be determined by the board before the playoffs begin.
- A player whose weight has been challenged must be at or below his age group’s weight limit plus 5 lbs for normal weight gain before he is allowed to carry the ball during the playoffs.
- Example:
- 7&8 year old ball carrier weight is challenged before the playoffs begin
- 7&8 age group’s weight limit is 85 lbs
- Ball carrier must weigh in at 90 lbs or below before being allowed to carry the ball
- No practice until August 1st
- Opening weekend will be August 23rd
- Rosters will be finalized after the August 16th weigh-in.
- After August 16th, a player cannot be added to any roster unless the player has moved into the community

- 7&8: Brewer
- 9&10: West Morgan
- 11&12: Falkville
- Championship: Hartselle

Football and cheerleading sign-ups will be at the football concession stand behind the softball fields on the following dates and times:

* The registration will be $85 for football and $55 for cheerleading. Please bring a copy of your birth certificate.
* Birth date cut-off has been reverted back to April 30th. Playing age of the child will be the child's age on or before April 30th.
